I set up a new 365 office for business acount this week and when I try to send emails from online outlook i get a failure to send with the message shown below.

It only does this when I am connected to my TalK TalK intenet connection, if i connect via a my mobile phone hotspot the emails are sent.

Can somebody tell me how to get TalK TalK to accept my 356 account as not being from a spam IP range.

Much appreciated

Hi all,

I've started getting the Cannot verify server identity for of the server "mail.talktalk.net".

This has only started today and I have checked settings as per the pinned post by the OCE's.

Any ideas?

Phone 8 on the lastest IOS and im using the standard Apple mail app.

Thank you.

Regards

Mark

No apps working for IMAP email, downloaded emails all deleted on all devices, webmail still works.

My talktalk emails on my IMAP apps on android phone, ASUS tablet and PC thunderbird have all disappeared completely.

all the emails are still visible on webmail.

I can send talktalk emails from my app but I cannot receive them.

when I opened my tablet, my talktalk emails were there, until the device synchronised, when they were all deleted.

I have checked all the settings, and even deleted and reinstalled on my phone, and tried setting up talktalk on Windows Mail.

The inbox shows a deckchair, saying finished, and does not download any messages.

I spent 40 min on online chat, but the agent was working to a script and could not help.

Tiscali E-mail not working with Microsoft

What we've got here, is a failure to communicate!

I'm using a tiscali e-mail address which has been active for many years, ever since my brother set it up for me. This is being accessed via Mail on a Windows 10 laptop (IMAP) using a Talk Talk broadband connection, and has been working fine for the past month. However, the last e-mail successfully received was 31 July. Now it will not synchronise.

Webmail is fine - I can log onto this with my password and see that e-mails are coming in OK.

I've tried:

- Using the advanced settings to set the port to 993.

- Deleting and re-adding the account.

- Setting up as a POP account instead of IMAP.

- Using Microsoft outlook advanced settings to set the server and port settings.

The only thing I couldn't try is resetting my password - as I'm on a legacy tiscali e-mail address which is not to my knowledge linked to an active Talk Talk account. My old password doesn't meet the current password 'rules' (could that be a problem? Only if Talk Talk have implemented security changes...)

I've set up e-mail addresses many times, so am reasonably sure that I'm not doing anything wrong. I take the point that if the webmail is working then there is a possibility that the problem is with the client. However, having worked in IT support for 20-odd years I also know that just because one way into a system is working doesn't guarantee that all ways into the system are working!

My first thought would be that something has changed - that it stopped working at end of July makes me suspicious (certificae expiring somewhere?), and past experience makes me think it's Talk Talk with the problem...

Can anyone help me please?

Talktalk mailbox not working in email client or webmail, other mailboxes OK

My main TalkTalk account (broadband and telephone) has 3 email mailboxes and addresses, two Tiscali ones dating back to when Tiscali first offered ADSL broadband in my area, and one TalkTalk address I added at the beginnning of July. I had always used POP3 up until then, but changed the two Tiscali addresses to IMAP and used IMAP from the get-go with the TalkTalk address.

Evening before last (Wednesday) I started getting authentication failure for the TalkTalk mailbox in my email client. Checking with Webmail, something is very wrong at the TalkTalk end. With webmail, it appears to accept my username and password, but the mailbox page only has content down to the grey bar across the screen that has the logout link in it. Below the line, therte is no column on the left with the Check New Mail, My Mail Folders, Manage Folders etc in it, and nothing in the rest where e.g. a mailbox's contents would be displayed. There is absolutely NOTHING below the grey bar with the logout link - just white space. It has been like this, authentication failure with the email client, accepted  login but totally blank webmail since Wednesday evening.

My two tiscali.co.uk mailboxes, however, work fine both with the email client and via webmail, apart from about an hour last night (Thursday) when the email client logins failed but they were normal in webmail - and after an hour the email client login started working again. Same with a ukgateway.net mailbox in a completely different account - fine apart from an hour last night in the email client.

So something has gone wrong just with my talktalk.net mailbox that (a) isn't my email client as the mailbox is not workng in webmail either, even though it accepts the webmail login, and (b) isn't a general problem as it isn't affecting my tiscali.co.uk and ukgateway.net mailboxes.

Your email certificate is invalid

Re: Your email certificate is invalid

I am having the same trouble. It appears to be since the start of August. I am using Apple Mail 11.5, and also the mail app on my Samsung Tablet.  I had a problem a few days go emailing myself from another device and that failed. I simply used a differet email account and thougt no more about it.

screenshot of message from apple mail could not be attatched - sigh- It reads:

Mail can't verify the identity of the derver "mail.talktalk.net"

The certificate for this server is invalid. You might be connecting to a server that is pretending to be mail.talktalk.net ... etc

I get no errors or messages from my tablet. I also have no mails on my web mail page from before July 31 2018. Are they removed from the server once they are picked up?

PS I understand the need for a capcha, but The images on yours are blurred and relly hard to see clearly. (slightly frustrated to say the least.

Cannot receive emails via POP3 but webmail fine

Hi all.  I'm new to TalkTalk (but NOT setting up POP3 email accounts).  I already have 6 POP3 accounts set up in Thunderbird and have just added another two TalkTalk emaill accounts that I have set up under the talkTalk My Account / Login Details.  On both email accounts, although I have the correct server name and password (I've already tried changing passwords) I cannot receive any emails via POP3.  I get the error "Mail server mail.talktalk.net responded: Invalid login or password".  However, the same login details allow me into webmail where I can see waiting emails.   The strange thing is that I CAN send emails from Thunderbird via smtp.talktalk.net that uses the same username and password.  I have correctly set the mail.talktalk.net port of 995, SSL/TLS connection security and Authentication Method is Normal Password.  I've set the Username as the TalkTalk email address.  I've tried starting again with new passwords with the same problem.  I've also tried setting up the talktalk email accounts in other mail programs (G-Lock Spam Combat on W7 and both Outlook Express and Mailwasher on an XP Virtual Machine - all of which I am familiar with) and they all report the same error.  I cannot see where the problem is but it seems remarkably similar to other reports in the community.  I've been trying to solve this for a few days now and the problem persists.  Can anyone suggest a remedy please?

My imac is sending emails but will not connect consistently to the talktalk pop server for incoming mail.

I get a message saying that the certificate is not trusted and someone may be pretending to be talktalk.

When I click show cerificate it refers to imap.tiscali.co.uk

What is going on?

Can it be fixed please.

Hi,

I've also started experiencing mail server connection problems over the last 2-3 days on my iPhone and home pc (Thunderbird). Both working fine up until then. Been through the whole uninstall/reinstall thing (several times), making sure all settings are correct for the latest. Webmail is ok and also still seem able to send, but will not recognise the incoming server settings on my devices, with all sorts of messages popping up (doesnt recognise the server, doesnt recognise my password, and now today problems with certificate). Even got messages yesterday advising my mail settings were for an O2 server/setup (I'm not with O2). Wont be accessing for next couple of weeks so hopefully TT have it sorted for my return (pleased I dont rely on it as primary mail service!).

problems with reporting TalkTalk problems to TalkTalk

So this is the meta meat-space problem:

TalkTalk don't appear to have a proper bug-reporting system and their WebChat agent did not want to do anything other than follow their pre-written script and send me a "supermail" - mostly junk marketing with one relevant link to an article telling me what I already knew about setting up a POP3 or IMAP etc mail connection, ie still treating the problem as though it was on my "unsupported client" rather than on their end. They claimed there couldn't be a fault with their email service (and I said that that's because they weren't letting anyone report faults with their email service!).

They also claimed that nothing was being reported on the community about problems with the email service; and, from the outside when trying to search into the forums, that's indeed what it looks like. But, now that I've created a login and come into the forums myself, I see it's not true at all and a bunch of you *have* been reporting (intermittent) problems downloading emails from their email servers - and had also noticed like I had that the missing and hoarded emails definitely exist on webmail. Those just aren't being admitted to when the email client requests new emails. It's rather like the WebChat agents not admitting to the ongoing email problems because they've carefully arranged not to be able to see them (even somehow on these forums).

So that brings us back to the original tech-space problem. The problem which TalkTalk is still apparently refusing to address and steadfastly pretending doesn't exist by stonewalling anyone who attempts to report it.

Note that it's not that my/your/everyone else's email client can't make contact with the same old contact details it has been using all along. There's only occasionally been a glitch when trying to connect to TalkTalk servers. And, from inspecting webmail repeatedly, it's also not that the emails aren't getting through the interwebs to reach TalkTalk. It has to instead be the failure of their email service to own up to emails it has received (regardless of which external email client is doing the asking).

I only noticed because I was waiting for a really important insurance document to come through; and it was 3 days later, and *after* I'd re-contacted the person who should have sent it, that TalkTalk finally spewed out this backlog of emails which it had been withholding all along. For that batch, the last time their system would regularly admit to having emails was early on Wednesday 1st and it finally spewed out the backlog in the middle of Friday 3rd. Since then it has evidently been working on another backlog that it won't send on to me - including yet another important document (for accident / incident reporting).

I don't really have any clue whether they are randomly holding onto outgoing emails (instead of passing them along to the people who haven't yet replied to me) but they're certainly not holding onto a consistent block of them in the same way / time-frame. This full batch blocking is apparently only on incoming emails. I have seen bizarre timing gaps on occasional emails before but this is the biggest or most obvious ongoing blockage.

Although TalkTalk webmail *is* still functioning, I really don't want the fuss of having to login to their webmail over and over just to check whether anything needs urgent attention. Nor do I want to come up with a new system for somehow integrating stuff rescued from there in an ad hoc manner with my existing well-structured in-piles on my web client (which currently enable me to track and backtrack on multiple issues with different groups and give me the semblance of being competent at my role).

I've only just noticed but for some time a lot of my emails are going straight to Trash in Webmail. I'm having to select them and move them to my inbox. Why is this happening?

Login to server imap.talktalk.net failed - several clients

(New thread created to separate out 2 issues with 2 different talktalk servers)

I reported here an issue with my @dsl.pipex.com account. I created a mirror of the same name with .net, since there seem to be issues with 'legacy' servers, and commenced the chore of informing contacts.

My troubles with dsl.pipex.com are ongoing, but the talktalk.net account is now bust too. After attempting to logon to the server, I get the dreaded password ‘re-enter’ prompt. The password is correct, and has not been changed, but re-entry is rejected.

  • I can get in via Webmail (unlike dsl.pipex.com), which is how I know the password’s OK.
  • 3 other talktalk.net accounts seem OK, via Thunderbird.
  • 4 email clients on 3 devices all now fail to connect to the new talktalk.net account, having been OK for a month or so.
  • Deletion and recreation does not work – fails at authentication stage.
  • Disabling antivirus does not work.
  • TB settings: imap.talktalk.net, Port 993, security SSL/TLS, Normal password

I have had a talktalk webmail account for years but have recently (over the past few months) not been active.

I attempted to login and was told that my email address was not recognised.

How can this be possible?

Are Talktalk breaking the law by closing my email account without my permission?

I have had another tiscali email address for a long time and I can no longer access it.  It says Login is disabled because there is an issue with your account. Please contact support to resolve the issue.

Since Wednesday, one of our email accounts has been playing up when using POP. The error message is that the password is wrong.

The password is not wrong, no settings have been changed and it is failing on two separate computers. Webmail however can be accessed successfully. We have other TalkTalk email addresses and they are all working fine.

I have checked the service status and there is a big green tick next to Email but clearly there is a problem somewhere.

Any ideas when this might be fixed?

Thanks.
