Authorising a 'reply to' email address (Sender address was rejected by the server)

Hi, I am aware that this has been covered before, but I am determined to either get it working or start looking elsewhere for an alternative email provider.

Basically, what I want to do is to set a different From/Reply To address to my email when I send. The reason for this is that I own a domain name with email forwarding set up. I would like my emails to appear as though they come from the domain name so I don't need to go around telling everyone a new email address if I switch providers (which may well be happening if I can't get this working).

If I attempt to do this and send an email from outside my home WiFi (e.g. from a mobile phone, work PC with Thunderbird, etc.) I get the dreaded Sender address xxx@yyy.co.uk was rejected by the server. I have checked my SMTP settings against those specified on the TalkTalk website (port 587, SSL with password, etc), so the access should be fully authenticated. I have also removed, then re-added accounts with no joy. If I set the From address back to the talktalk one, all works fine, so I suspect the From email address is the problem.

My question is whether it is possible to authorise a known outgoing (From/ Reply To) email address on the TalkTalk email settings. I believe this was possible with Yahoo mail, but I wouldn't touch them with a barge pole now. Alternatively has anyone got this working with another ISP (e.g. BT)?

This used to work several years ago, but I have been trying on and off to get it working for a while now. Has anyone else managed to get this working?
