This morning I have received two spam/phishing telephone calls.
The first from 002088784888, a foreign gentleman said he was from TalkTalk Faults Department, and quoted my
TalkTalk Account number.
This was VERY worrying.
He went on to say that they had detected that somebody had been accessing my computer. I have heard that many
times before, usually from Nigerian Microsoft or Windows computer experts.
I was advised to switch it on and type in www.teamview.com., so that my computer could be connected to 'Faults' and he
would be able to show me, on my screen, all of the faults I have been experiencing.
I refused to do that.
My suspicions were further aroused when he asked me to press the 'Windows' and letter 'r' keys together.
I ended the call.
Later I received another call, this time from 01616204918.
An English gentleman, also reputedly from TalkTalk Faults Department, informed me that my 'faulty' router was being
replaced tomorrow.
I asked him for evidence that he was from TalkTalk, and he told me that he knew my computer ID number.
Then he asked me to switch on my computer and press the 'Windows' and 'r' keys at the same time so that I could verify
that the number was correct. (ALARM BELLS!)
I abruptly ended the call.
I have now added the FREE 'last call banning' service to my TalkTalk phone package.
I understand that I will be able to add other numbers from my long list of scamming calls.
I am assured that TalkTalk will NEVER attempt to take control of your computers, other than jamming them full of millions
of unwanted old and previously deleted multi duplicated emails and spam, making them and iPads/iPhones etc., almost
unuseable.
Be aware, and be safe.
