unable to receive mail -- solved

Over a week ago I stopped getting any tiscali email. After repeatedly contacting Talk Talk via their chat facility without any indication that they knew what was wrong, let alone how to fix it, I have managed to cure the problem myself.

I opened a gmail account, sent myself an e-mail from my tiscali account. When I clicked on 'reply to sender' the username was not mine, but was someone or something called AVIS DE GAIN, and the box to 'forward messages to...' was checked in favour of the email address  franckqauthier@myway.com

I unchecked the box, deleted their account(s) from my settings after adding my own (it wouldn't let me delete my 'main' account first), and now it seems to be working. Who the names belong to or how they got there is beyond me.

I tried various ways to find out what was going on, none of which was made easy by Talk Talk. I couldn't even use this community because I needed e-mail to register. If this helps to avoid a little frustration, all well and good, but with a bit of luck someone at Talk Talk with a bit of tech know-how wiil read this and respond.

I still have no idea what's going on...
