Hi.  I access my talktalk.net email with Thunderbird from 2 PCs and from two Android devices.  Until Christmas 2016 I didn't have a problem, but since then, half the time, I get connection refusals - and once it fails it can stay in that mode for an hour or so.  Often Thunderbird says "Mail server mail.talktalk.net responded:" i.e. no message.  My Amazon Fire just says "can't connect to server". Can someone explain what has happened to the talktalk email servers please?

Had problems for the best part of a week now, with connection to the email server being either very slow or not possible at all.  Symptoms - 

1. Desktop/laptop, Thunderbird on Win10 - 'Thunderbird could not connect to the email server' or 'Connection timed out'.  When it does manage to connect, takes ages to retrieve mails.

2. Webmail via Chrome - can log in ok, but get a blank space where the 'Mail Inbox' should be, often taking >30s to be populated.  Opening sub-folders also often takes ~30s to show the contents.

3. Mobile device running K9 (I know, I know - but it's free, has no ads, and handles multiple folders really well) - 'Socket timeout exception'.

Additionally - K9 did release an update recently, which "Disabled support for SSLv3 protocol/ciphers and all RC4 ciphers" - but appears to break the ability to connect to TT incoming email using SSL... Does anyone know what version protocols/cyphers TT use?  I've had to go back to using None/143, but interestingly it only works using encrypted pasword transmission.  Outgoing still works fine using STARTTLS/587/plain password.  I think this is probably a separate issue to the above noted problem with timeouts/no connection though.

when we are all posting these server problems over lots of email clients not able to connect regularly

I receved this e-mail today with a link to updade account, but the link was asking for credit card details and it felt wrong somehow. Is this a scam of some sort or do i have to provide card details to unlock my taltalk webmail account?

Hi. Have recently lost access to my tiscali email address - not sure if it was down to inactivity (as was without Broadband access for over a month) or whether someone has hacked my account and reset the password. I have not been a TalkTalk customer for a couple of years now but am likely to return once I sort out some compensation from BT for my Broadband being down! I have updated my profile with the required info (as per similar posts). Many thanks.

Hi guys,

 

My old Tiscali email address seems to have been hacked as I keep getting "mail delivery system" emails saying that emails (which I haven't sent) have failed to deliver. I have tried to change my password and delete my account but, as I don't currently have an acccount with talktalk, I am unable to do this. Just wondered if there is a way to either change password or delete the account that I am unaware of?

Yet another Lineone.net email problem.

Apparently a usual problem Smiley Frustrated Firefox  keeps asking for my Lineone password. Password change not accepted at TalkTalk Mail.  Voice support can't help because I don't have an account and they can't access Reference INC000014537942 and that reference seems to be ignoring me. I hope that I have put all the details in my profile except that I have only put the dialing code because in Lineone days I had to have a dedicated phone line - long since ceased!  Any help to let me read my emails would be appreciated.


Can't Talk Talk stop the more blatent spam?

I've been getting spam with headers like "From: Chris <>" ie with NO email address in the from field and "Message-ID: <58337A9302549573@ms2nec.int.opaltelecom.net> (added by postmaster@mail.svcgb1.int.opaltelecom.net)" ie no message ID from the senders SMTP server as I believe that Opal Telecom is associated with Talk Talk and as usual these messages originated in the US. 

 

Both the above were taken verbatum from the original message. It can't be impossible for Talk Talk to either modify the subject of emails with no address AND no message ID to flag them as possible spam or add an additional header line to the same effect.

 

I do get a small number of legitimate emails with message IDs added by yourselves but it really is a small number (less than 1 a month on average) but the lack of a sender's email address is the killer here. The suggestion to modify the headers was so that legitimate email do not get stopped but suspicios ones can be identified more easily

 

I use Forte's Agent and Pop3 for reading emails mostly because I like the interface and control I have over filters.

Anybody else struggling as I am at the moment with their Talktalk email?  My issues are that messages rarely load on first attempt, have to login a number of times before inbox shows loading status and even at that point they either fail to load or take a long time . . . beyond that, each time I then open a message or try to reply to any I am then logged out and have to repeat the whole process again.  Most frustrating, particularly when trying to open email that is important and time dependant and trying to respond to it..

Folders Empty Again - Please Restore!!!

I have just found several of my folders are empty again.

 

My 'Deal with Soon' folder and my entire 'Legal' folder along with several others.

 

Please can these be restored as a matter of urgency please??

 

What steps TalkTalk have taken since they lost my last emails to stop this happening?

Hi. I have an old tiscali email account which I still use. I am not a current customer of talktalk as I live now in Holland. Since yesterday when i try to log in I keep getting wrong username / password. I know my details are 100% correct and now I am locked out having tried 10 times! I cannot rectify this in my account as I am not a customer. All online help appears unavailable. Is there a telephone number where I can contact someone, bearing in mind it is from overseas... Many thanks in advance

I would like to change the passwords for two Tiscali email accounts, but am no longer a residential customer so can't do it via My Account.  I do have a business account with Talk Talk but they are unable to help.  How can I get these passwords changed?

Emails being bounced as spam

Hi

I'm receiving bounce backs when sending out emails to my choir group emails that are using talktalk - the emails are sent via FastHosts webmail. It seems they're being blocked as spam but instead of just letting the user decide that, it's not even delivering the emails. Could someone please prevent these being blocked as spam? Error message on the bounce back is below, any help would be much appreciated.

Tiscali email account has stopped forwarding on emails to new email account.

Hi. I have an old tiscali email account which I still use. I am not a current customer of talktalk and left over 5 years ago. Since Saturday 7 Jan 17 this account stopped forwarding my emails to my present email account provider. Unfortunately I cannot remember my old password. Is there someway that my tiscali email account can be checked to see if there is a problem, as all I can see is amessage stating 'sever error with last pop collection. All my details are in the private notes section of your community profile.
