how do I transfer my old address list to windows 10 mail app

when i transferred my e-mail accounts to windows 10, my contact addresses did not automatically go with them to the mail app. with the result that i have to access either edge or firefox browsers to get a contact address, this kind of defeats the so-called usefullness of the mail app. How do i import from these browsers to the windows mail app. or does this mean i have to set up an outlook mail account.
