Email constantly downloading unread mails

Hi, I use Mail on iOS device and it is normally fine, today though all of my emails disappeared from my phone. Then, maybe an hour later, I got hundreds coming through from months ago as if they were new. Also, it has lost the mails I hadn't deleted as needed to keep them

Any suggestions?

No matter how many I delete they just keep coming thru
