I have been sending and receiving email via tiscali.co.uk for years, using Thunderbird. Today I can receive mail, but not send it; I get error messages back like
Diagnostic-Code: smtp; 522 IP FOUND IN DNSRBL (please check for 62.24.135.129 IP address listing on common DNS RBL services)
Has anyone else started seeing this problem?
Is this IP address the same for all outgoing email from Tiscali.co.uk?
I called the helpdesk, and they had me send the messages from Webmail - and one of them got through, so they said Webmail was fine.
They sent me a setting change for Thunderbird, which I implemented, so now it's using a password. (It's been set to "no security" for years.) This setting change should ensure that my emails go from the approved mail server which doesn't get put on the temporary blacklist (PBL.)
However, since then a) messages sent from webmail have also been bounced, and b) the error messages now tell me the IP address is on the RBL. I assume this is worse!
If the mail server has been blacklisted, how can this be sorted out? Do I just have to wait for TalkTalk to take action?
