what happens to my virgin.net address that's been moved to Talk Talk? Can I keep using it?

I've had no information whatsoever about my email address virgin.net having been taken over by Talk Talk - a friend has told me.  So does this mean I can still use my address or what?  And why hasn't either Virgin or Talk Talk told me?
