Problems retrieving Pipex mail via Outlook 2010

Hello,

 

I had mentioned this problem by way of a comment on another thread - but I think I was in the wrong place, so apologies for posting it twice!

 

I have had a problem for the last couple of months with my Pipex email.  I use Outlook 2010 and have had the same set up for several years (i.e. no recent changes), with no problems.  However, for the last month or so I frequently (50% of the time) get this message when downloading email that comes into my Pipex address:  "...error(0x80042108): Outlook cannot connect to your incoming (POP3) email server.  If you continue to reveive this message, contact your ISP".  Usually, clicking again on Send/Receive in Outlook does the trick, though sometimes I have to do this 3 times.  I do not have this issue with email from other accounts that I download via POP at the same time.  So this does not seem to be a problem with Outlook.  My wife is experiencing the same problem with her Outlook 2010 and Pipex on her machine during the past month or so, so again pointing to an issue with Pipex.  I also have no problems with Pipex email on my Ipad (also set up as POP). Is this a legacy of the TalkTalk hack last December?

 

At the moment it's very annoying but not unuseable.  Any help or insight appreciated.
